Courthouse recording system receives dire upgrades
The Clay County Council had a quick meeting to approve additional appropriations at their September 2 meeting.
The council approved the additional appropriations of $26,680.49 to the County General fund.
Additional appropriations include overtime reimbursement funds from the DEA, two additional dumpsters for the Clay County Justice Center, which has recently doubled in size, and a new recording system for court hearings.
Clay Superior Court Judge Robert Pell explains that due to the recent cyber attack, the Clay County Courthouse learned its recording system has been operating on Windows 7.
Judge Pell explained that problems with the system have escalated since the attack, and while a software update will work momentarily, the courthouse will have to look into getting a new system at some point.
Recordings that were lost have been recovered on an R-Drive but are not easily accessible. The upgrade should prevent the loss of recordings.
