Clay Court subdivision offers new housing for residents
Residential development has been a significant topic in Clay County for several years due to the urgent need for more housing for its residents.
A new development is underway in Staunton to address these housing insecurities. The Clay Court subdivision will have ten brand-new homes.
"We really felt there was a need for new housing in this area; there haven't been any new homes built in Staunton in years. We got to talking to city officials over here, Andy Kirchner being one of them, and he liked the idea, and they've been very supportive," explained Jon Holloway of A&J Developers.
A&J is comprised of local developers Austin Staley and Jon Holloway, who have 25 years of combined expertise in real estate and construction.
A&J Developers are constructing the homes at Clay Court as part of Thrive West Central's Homes for the Future Program.
"Thrive has been very supportive; they've been great people to work with," explained Holloway.
The homes, which will cost at least $250K, are designed to be affordable and comfortable for residents with total electric, 2x6 wall construction. Additionally, they will have city utilities, ensuring a convenient and secure living situation.
"We use mostly local contractors, so it's helped provide jobs and give families some new home options in this area," described Holloway of the development.
The remaining houses are expected to be finished by October 2025.
