Northview sweeps Chad Smith Invitational

Wednesday, September 18, 2024

Over the last several years, Northview’s cross country team has dominated the annual Chad Smith Invitational hosted by Sullivan.

That didn’t change on Wednesday night.

Northview swept the meet once again as the boys blew past the field while the girls bested Eastern Greene by one point to bring home some more hardware for the program’s trophy cases.

Camden Johnson was the individual champion in the boys race with a time of 18:09. Finishing directly behind him was teammate Connor Propst, who posted a time of 18:22. Joining the pair of juniors in the top 10 included Daniel Russell and Noah Minett who crossed the finish line simultaneously to finish in a tie for fifth place with times of 19:06 as well as Seth Hendricks (8th with a time of 19:17).

Will Harms (11th with a time of 19:36) and Hadley McPike (18th with a time of 20:15) each finished in the top 20 while Aiden Shepherd (23rd with a time of 20:32), Devin Jones (24th with a time of 20:34), Nolan Heiliger (26th with a time of 20:53), Maxx McCullough (28th with a time of 21:06), Jacob Dalton (30th with a time of 21:09), Jonah Jabbour (31st with a time of 21:15), Addison Shepherd (42nd with a time of 22:59) and Maddox Penrod (43rd with a time of 23:05) rounded out the evening for the Knights.

Hannah Harrison and Josie Lynch paced the Lady Knights on Wednesday, finishing in a tie for third place with identical times of 22:30, which with the way the final team scores turned out, proved to be consequential.

Behind the pair of upperclassmen included Aubrey Miller (20th with a time of 24:47), who made her season debut over the weekend at the Eagle Classic hosted by Brown County, Leah Nevill (21st with a time of 25:00), Silas Graf (22nd with a time of 25:00), Cora Frederick (23rd with a time of 25:01) and Addison Nolte (33rd with a time of 27:06).
