A busy day for volunteer fire fighters

Six volunteer fire departments were dispatched to a southern Clay County field fire Thursday afternoon, and helped fight a structure fire in Owen County.

Firefighters from Center Point, Clay City, Cory, Bowling Green, Jackson, and Posey fire departments were at the scene within a few minutes to battle the aggressive fire in a corn field near a home.

In the middle of the fire, Owen county requested assistance to fight a structure fire, and Clay City sent another a truck to help.
