GARRY L. DALTON, Jasonville, IN

Garry L Dalton 79 of Jasper, FL went to be with the Lord on September 23, 2024, at his home in Jasonville, IN. He was born March 9,1945 in Clay County, Indiana, the son of Virgil and Vernie Dalton. He married Bonita Sebastian on March 21,1970 and celebrated 54 years of marriage.

He graduated from Clay City High School in 1963. He worked with his father on the farm and then served in the Vietnam War from 1965-1967 with the Alpha 2nd Battalion 35th Artillery. He was a member of the American Legion Post #2. He earned his Master of Education degree in teaching and learning at ISU and taught Industrial Arts for six years. He was the CED at the Clay/Vigo FSA offices for 30 years retiring in 2006.

He enjoyed carpentry and built three of the homes he lived in. He and his church family built a log church, shelter house, and cabins for Heritage Baptist Church in which he was a member. At his home in Florida, he built a large greenhouse and raised fruit trees. He made both of his granddaughters an airplane windmill as his father had made for him. He also enjoyed writing poems, mechanic work, inventing, and camping.

Garry was preceded in death by his parents, sister Netta, son Ericson, and brothers-in-law Larry Pensinger, David South, Hershel Hayward, Bill Christy, and Mike Downs. He is survived by his spouse Bonita, daughter Sonya (Scott) Sumerford of Shelbyville, IN, two granddaughters Cassie and Erica Sumerford, sisters Rachel Pensinger of Wingate, IN, Betty Christy of Jacksonville Beach, FL, Gladys Hayward of Greenville, KY, Colleen South of Veedersburg, IN, Patsy Delomas of Jacksonville Beach, FL, and Etta (Aaron) Childs of Mooresville, Indiana and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, September 26th at 11 A.M. at Swalley Cemetery, 4007 East River Road, Bowling Green, Indiana 47833.
