ROSE ANN McVEY, Brazil, IN

Rose Ann McVey, 87, of Brazil, Indiana, passed away on September 23, 2024, while at Heart to Heart Hospice, in Evansville, Indiana.

Rose was born on January 22, 1937, in Terre Haute, Indiana, the daughter of Thomas and Marjorie Josephine (Wells) Dowell. She graduated from Gerstmeyer High School with the class of 1955. Rose worked in food service at Brazilian Lanes, Jackson Township Elementary, and Northview High School where she was the cafeteria manager. She attended First Christian Church for many years.

Rose enjoyed cooking and especially loved spending time with family and friends. She took great joy in hosting family events and babysitting her numerous grandchildren. In addition to Rose's other hobbies and interests, she liked to take Turner bus trips, watch the Hallmark channel, meet her friends for lunch at MCL, and sub in the cafeteria at Jackson Township.

She is survived by her children: Donald Steven Mattox and wife Kay, Lorrie Ann Wood, and Debra Ann Mattox Allen and husband James; grandchildren: Tyler Mattox (Meredith), Kelly Neff (Aaron), Brandon Russell, Josh Wood, Lindsay Jeffers (Casey), Bradey Allen (Gabi), and Cordell Allen (Kim); great-grandchildren: Bronwyn, Abram, Ryder, Lennox, Rhett, Cruz, Wesley, Wyatt, Emily, Nora, Eliza, and Clara; and one great-great-grandson Holden; stepdaughter Polly McVey; brother James Dowell (Nancy).

She was preceded in death by her parents Thomas and Marjorie Dowell; her husband Robert “Otis” McVey; and a sister Mary Gallion; stepson Todd McVey.

Visitation will be at French Funeral Home, 421 E. National Ave. Brazil, Indiana 47834, on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Services

will be at the funeral home, on Thursday, at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Restlawn Cemetery.
