Born on July 3, 1930, in Montgomery County, he was the son of Crawford W. Crane and Velma Hargis.
Mr. Crane worked as a truck driver for Schwerman Trucking for 38 years, retiring in July of 1992.
He attended the First Baptist Church.
Friends may call at the Bittles & Hurt Funeral Home 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2006.
There will be no services.
Survivors include sons, William Crane Jr., Terre Haute and James Crane, Reelsvillle; daughters, Wendy Staley, husband Chad, Greencastle; Samantha Crane, Brazil; brother,, Bud Crane, Crawfordsville, Ind.; sisters, Pat Sanders, Evansville, Ind.; Barbara Runyon, husband Wendy, Crawfordsville; Kate Bartholomew, Celina, Tenn.; Jan Meenach, husband, Charles, Crawfordsville, Ind.; Charlotte Pickering, also of Crawfordsville; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
