County voters get a new setup

John Noel of MicroVote installs a computer in the Clerk's Office of the County Courthouse. This computer will run the voting software needed to control the county's 72 new voting machines. The machines, one of which is sitting on the left side of the table, are electronic and easier to use than the county's old system. Clerk Mary Brown said that the machines cost a total of $297,850, though $73,416 will be refunded to the county through state grants Monday. Brown said that there is a possibility of recouping almost all of the cost incurred by the new machines.
