Bus driver retirees honored

Tuesday, December 27, 2005

Co-workers and family members of the Clay Community Schools Corporation Transporation Department gathered Wednesday to celebrate the holidays and honor two bus drivers who have offically retired from driving. Richard Piatt (left) who is retiring after 30 years and Jim Blanchard (right) who is retiring after 36 years received the Distinguished Hoosier Award from Governor Mitch Daniels and Transportation Director Frank Misner (center). The Distinguished Hoosier is one of the highest awards given by the State of Indiana to its citizens. Also during the party, attendants took a few minutes to watch "A Long Road Back," a video that portrayed Tom Miller and his recovery since the Sept. 8 house explosion that left him with extensive burns. Members of the Transportation Department simply wanted to wish Tom Miller a happy holiday season.
