Reader delvers further into the past of Brazil

To the Editor:

I had had at least 10 or 15 people on the streets, in the stores, and other places, come up to me and tell me they like my letters.

And of course, there's a few that don't like them.

Well, I don't worry whether people like them or don't. I say what's on my mind and tell it like it is.

In this letter, after I talk about the old days, some people may or may not like what I say in the next story.

Old days -- Brazil once had a Woolworth store, Roots, Mays, Budget, Stanger's, Brazil Store of Values, Merit's, Liefhiet's, Penney's, Oehler's, Shiff's, Factory Outlet, Tasty Pastry, Blower's, National Drug, West End Drug Store, West End Liquor Store, Paitson's Hardware, Brazil Hardware, Dix Lumber, Cunningham Lumber, S.H. Pawley, Emmert, A&P Supermarket, Standard, Kroger in the Goodwill building, Western Auto, Moores, etc.

The present -- Now most people know this town has it's high society click, you know the ones that get all the media attention, the ones if you're not one of them, you're nobody.

Yep, that's right, if you don't look right to them and you don't have the money like they do, then that makes them better than you.

You take most of these so-called organizations, I noticed the only members they have are the people who own some kind of business and drive fancy cars, live in expensive homes, some near the golf course, others in new subdivisions with fancy names, even fancy names for their streets.

Some of these organizations claim to be helping people that need help, the only ones I've heard of them helping is people that don't need help.

If I had plenty of money, which I don't have, I would start a small business in this town.

But I would do it to try to make money, not to impress the rich or the local Chamber of Commerce.

By the way, where was the Chamber of Commerce when the Lighthouse Mission opened their little store in front of the former Hick's Auto Supply?

I don't remember seeing any big bright colored picture of them cutting any fancy ribbon for that store.

I don't know if Jason Moon will publish this letter or not, but whatever his decision is, I will respect it. But it is the truth and like I said, I tell it like it is.

I'm not rich, probably never will be, but I enjoy life each day as it comes to me.

One more thing: I love writing these letters as well as reading the other Letters to the Editor.
