Letter to the Editor

The debate will move on and on

To the Editor:

It is sad to say, when I first read this letter ("Be careful what you wish for," printed Oct. 6, 2008), I responded with flat out laughter.

Not at the subject of abortion, for it is no laughing matter, but at the ignorance of the people of this country that they think that prohibiting abortion would lead to government mandating abortion.

And it is quite insulting to compare our country to that of China.

First of all, it will always be a debate between Americans of whether or not a fetus is a person/life … which shouldn't be since our country was founded on Christianity and the Bible (Psalms 139:13-16) tells us that from the time that we were made in the "secret in your mother's womb, we were written the book of life."

It will not be the president to decide this, but the people of our country and unfortunately, there are so many ignorant and fearful people that are too afraid of change and government when they should really fear themselves.

It is difficult to even comprehend a victim having to carry a perpetrator's baby to term to give up for adoption, but it bothers me more to think of how many babies are butchered everyday in this country.

And in this decision, the government will have to either be for or against all, not to create an epidemic of "crying rape or incest," as it already has an epidemic of abortion being a means of getting out of consequences or our actions.

In the end, no government laws matter to me anyway, because as far as I am concerned the law of God is the true law and it doesn't matter what our government says, people will do what they want to do.

They always find a way whether be a coat hanger or a back alley butcher, but that would be on their hands.

Government does not have a say in whether a fetus is a life or not, so don't expect them to know what the right answer is.

So my last words to you is not "be careful what you wish for," but be careful … what you do in life comes back to you 10-fold.
