To the Editor:

I would like to take this opportunity to publicly thank everyone who helped in any way to feed the 135 soldiers from the local Brazil National Guard Unit and their families on New Year's Day.

This special time could not have been possible without help from the community.

Thank you to the local Kroger Co. for the $100 gift card, to Sam's Club for the $50 gift card, and to the Wal-Mart Supercenter on State Road 46 for the $50 gift card to go toward the purchase of groceries.

Thank you to Chris and Andie from Aldi's for all the groceries you kept pulling off the shelves -- I estimate approximately $200 worth. Thank you to Tom Wampler of B&B Foods of Terre Haute for all the grocery items donated -- I estimate approximately $300 worth.

And thank you to Mike Lawson of Riddell National Bank for picking up the balance of the grocery tab. This was all greatly appreciated.

Thank you to Rick Bell and his staff at Pappy's for preparing 500 servings of cheesy potatoes. Thank you to Pastor Howerda of the North Union United Methodist Church and owner of the Springmill Bread Co. of Terre Haute for the 40 dozen dinner rolls.

Thank you to the ladies of North Union United Methodist Church for the 200-plus servings of desserts and also for delivering the desserts and staying to serve them.

Thank you to Debbie Heiliger of Serendipity for the use of your refrigerator, prep space and ovens at Serendipity as well as the many hours spent along side me helping to cook and prepare and even serving the dinner.

Thank you to friends from my home church, Grace Chapel, for the help in transporting the dinner to the armory and staying to help serve and clean up.

Thank you to my husband Bill for being my rock, my right arm and greatest supporter without whom I could never accomplish anything.

Most of all, I would like to thank the men and women who are leaving their families and the security of their homes to help maintain our freedom and way of life. Please know you are in my prayers daily for your safekeeping and speedy return.

May God bless you while you are away and your families as they await your return home.

To Sgt. Mike Ames, thank you for allowing me to be a part of this very special day.

Sincerely,

Mary Fisher, Owner/Baker,

Goodies Galore,
