To the Editor:

Recently, I have become more involved with the Clay County Senior Center.

I am amazed and disappointed that more people do not take advantage of their services.

A lunch is served everyday Monday through Friday at 11:30 a.m., for anyone 60-over for the low price of $2, or if you cannot afford this price, you may eat free. The lunches are well-balanced meals. If you are not able to come eat at the center and meet certain criteria, you can have them delivered to you.

If this is something that might interest you, please call the center at 448-8848 for more info on how to take advantage of this service.

There is something going on at the center most every day of the week. They have euchre tournaments on Monday and Thursday evenings at 6:30. Pool tables are available every day between 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Bingo is offered Wednesdays.

There are artists that come in and paint Tuesdays and you are invited to join them between 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Whenever there are other events taking place, they are noted in the daily event section of The Brazil Times.

If you have not taken advantage of the center, please consider doing so, or if you have suggestions in other things they could be offering, let them know that too.

I would hate to see us lose this facility because it was not made use of. And I am sure the board feels that way too. If you have never visited the center, take time to stick your head in and say hello to Sharon Brown, The Center Director. I am sure she would be happy to show you around.

Vicky and Kathy would love to serve you lunch.

There is also the food pantry that is open Tuesdays and Thursdays. There are no criteria for you to follow to be able to get food. Mary Jane would be happy to assist you with the selection of food. The van is going to be in operation again for the transporting of people who need rides to doctor's appointments or shopping.

Call Juanita at the center for more info on this. We are very fortunate to have this facility, so we do need to make more use of it.

Sharon Lohrman,

Brazil
