The truth will set you free

To the Editor:

Dear friends, there is a letter running around the Internet basically bashing our new administration, of which I am no fan.

For the record, I see them as a "Thugogracy," pushing us toward a fascist form of government.

However, two things that I hate: Misinformation that is continually rebroadcast without correction because it "fits the agenda," and double standards.

Those two things have been used by our government for years, extensively to set us up for our current position to accept fascism. Our current administration seems to be expert in their use only slightly better than the last.

On point A, I would like to educate all of you. Timothy Geithner is not a tax cheat. The current letter I speak of states: "We've got a tax cheat for Treasury Secretary who did not properly file his own taxes for 12 years. (He misspoke!).

Wrong. Incorrect. Geithner made about $30,000 overseas doing some sort of consulting. The nature of the taxes were unknown because of his diplomatic ties. His accountants could not figure out if he owed taxes (they thought he probably did) and if he did, what percentage did he owe. So, they asked the IRS. The IRS could not even tell him. His lead tax attorney simply said to sit on it for a couple years and the statutes of limitations would expire.

He did not cheat. He followed the law. Am I jealous? Heck yeah. I wish I could do that. If I get into a position, I'd do the same. Shame on the opposition for slamming Geithner for following the law and making a buck. In that, I admire him (that's about the extent of my admiration).

I'm about the truth. I care not whether you want this or that. Just don't lie to me. Don't call it "Health Care Reform) when it's designed to enrich big pharma, your legal buddies and to give big government sway of very personal parts of our lives.

Don't call it "Cap and Trade" and claim it's to help our dependence on foreign oil and to help repair the environment when it's actually a government takeover of the energy industry and will squash any hope of economic recovery.

Don't lie to me.

But, socialism and fascism have to be "lied in" because their fundamental truths destroy all rights and people, as much as they are sheeple, know this.

So, they can't get it "voted in" they have to "lie it in."

They are doing their best.

We don't need to stoop to that level.

They say that the truth shall set you free. With that statement, let the freedom begin.
