Thanks for all of the help

To the Editor:

In this day of economic woes, sad news of our war on terror, cut backs with layoffs and factory closures, we learned today that the "Vets" van broke down and needed some emergency repairs to the engine.

Remembering the kind gesture of the Leonard Buell family in donating the fine van that Vets could be hauled to the VA hospital Center at Indianapolis and/or Terre Haute, having a wheelchair lift, this van solved some of the Vets problems.

Mr. Mike Holland, part-time VA officer for Clay County has put in many hours, both at the office and home for Vets and with the van down, needing some immediate help, turned to Charlie Brown, President of the Clay County Commissioners and closely associated with Vets through the V.F.W. and American Legion of Brazil.

Then, the council members' president got things going and Jeff's Complete Auto Repair of Knightsville acknowledged that he would make necessary repairs at a discount for the Vets Center of Clay County.

Having two units of county government and a local business willing to assist Vets, we have a work in progress. Parts ordered and work to be done in short order, our thanks to the Clay County VA Rep., Mike Holland, and Charlie Brown and the mechanic Jeff Underwood in Knightsville.

Anyone so desiring to make a donation toward repair costs may send checks to Clay County VA Office, Courthouse 609 E. National Ave., Rm. 104, Brazil, Ind., 47834.

Makes checks to VA Service, any Vet from any war may ride the van to medical centers with prior notification arrangements.

Vets, too, may donate for these repairs.

We thank you,

Clay County Vets and Marion "Sarge" Eveland,

Knightsville
