Volleyball team issues thanks

To the Editor:

This season, Northview volleyball achieved something that no volleyball team has achieved in 4A volleyball.

This year, the Northview volleyball team won its first sectional since 1996. The girls were able to display true mental toughness to deliver that elusive sectional championship. We also did a lot in the community with our Breast Cancer Awareness Game, our Tribute to The Troops Game, and our billboard on United States 40 supporting the Say No to Drugs campaign.

These girls were great representatives of Northview High School and Clay County.

The biggest part of any sports' team season is the amount of people that are involved in making these seasons possible. On behalf of the Northview volleyball team, we wanted to extend our sincere thanks and gratitude to the following people for helping make this season a success.

Jan Gambill -- our athletic director, for getting us a more challenging schedule to prepare us for the tournament season. It truly made a difference.

Nicole Gonzales -- our athletic trainer, for helping so much with all of the injuries that go along with a volleyball season. We are truly blessed to have a highly skilled trainer on our athletic staff.

Kasey Buell -- our book keeper at the high school for taking care of all of the various fundraising money that we raised.

Leslee McDonald -- our team mom and wife to the head coach, for all of the details that are needed in terms of shirt orders, hotel room reservations and food for the road trips all season.

Sheila Clark -- for all of the help with our fundraiser involving the cakes and cookies, along with her purchasing of the sectional shirts, as well as organizing the regional shirts, and for donating the pumpkins for the team cookout.

Pam Hayes -- for all the help with our fundraiser involving the banner sales.

Wayne King -- for taking the amazing pictures for our seniors. The pictures were incredible and a true keepsake to cherish.

All parents -- for everything that they did this season from the support in going to games, the food, the presents, and everything else. We are truly grateful for everything.

Fans -- we cannot express how much we appreciated your being at the home games and especially going on the road to the sectional and regional. The energy that you gave us in cheering really helped.

Riddell National Bank -- for their generous donation for the shirts that we threw out before each home game.

Keving Higgins and his staff at A+ Printing -- for their hard work in producing all of the T-shirt needs that we had with our season shirts, the Breast Cancer Shirts, the Tribute to the Troops Shirts, and all of the other shirts that went along with our season.

The Clay County Sheriff's Department and Brazil City Fire Department -- for the wonderful welcome home and escort through town with the lights and sirens. It was truly a memorable ride home.

Pizza Hut -- for staying open late on the night of the sectional championship for allowing us to get together and celebrate a phenomenal championship run.

Carey Fox -- for the great coverage all season and for professionally done stories. We appreciate all of the time that goes into getting these stories in on your deadlines.

There are so many people that we could not name them all and fit in the paper. We are working hard to develop a Northview volleyball family.

In closing, we also wanted to congratulate the Northview Marching Knights on another state championship.

Thank you,

Scott McDonald
