Asking Van Buren alumni for help

To the Editor:

We are writing this letter to ask Van Buren Alumni for some help.

We are sure most of you remember Mrs. Knox' class and the many traditions that she had in her classroom (i.e., Thanksgiving Dinner, end-of-year trip, etc.).

Well, she is trying to continue with these traditions. She would like to take the class on the annual trip to the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago. For many students, it will be the only time they will see Chicago.

However, due to the rising costs of fuel, bus rental, admission prices and other expenses, we find ourselves in need of help.

The class has several families that have suffered job losses and other financial burdens. Also, other past donations that have been relied upon, have been cut due to the current economy. We are asking you to help us keep traditions and help enrich these student's lives by providing some financial assistance.
