Letter to the Editor

It's all one corporate scam

Sunday, February 27, 2011

To the Editor:

With gas prices obviously on the rise again in the United States, a few questions come to mind.

When Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait, the United States came to the rescue of this oil rich country and saved their rear ends.

I guarantee you the American taxpayers footed the entire bill for this wealthy country to still be able to exist.

We prop up lousy countries like Saudi Arabia, a revolution waiting to happen; Tunisia, whose government has already been overthrown and all we have to show for it is the bill and higher gas prices.

Either the United States is a poor negotiator or we seem to allow certain members of our country to put the foot on our necks, economically, any chance they get.

These oil rich, wealthy countries owe us a ton of money for military services and Americans should demand payment.

This letter doesn't even include Iraq, which was supposedly going to pay its own way with its wealth, or South Korea, who refuses to bargain with us with trade agreements that are to our advantage.

Even though they are an inch away from being demolished, I wonder when Americans are going to wake up and hold our elected officials accountable for seeing that our interests are protected.

We are getting scammed by big corporations with the tacit approval of our own government.
