Letter to the Editor

Campaign offers thanks to all

Sunday, January 22, 2012

To the Editor:

I wish to express a sincere gratitude to all of the people who volunteered their time ringing bells and those who donated in the Red Kettle Campaign for Salvation Army Clay County.

The blessings of ringing the bell are many, as those who rang can tell you.

There were about 100 people who volunteered their time in four weeks to raise just short of $12,000!

A special thanks to Dick McShanog, Charlotte Chamberlain and Roseanne Aker for helping to coordinate the volunteers.

I feel so blessed to have been given the opportunity to coordinate this fundraising effort. This money will be used right here in Clay County for our friends and neighbors in need.

Thank you to those who donated ... once or many times, change or dollar bills, pennies or fifties!

Special thanks to Walmart and Kroger in Brazil and Miller's IGA in Clay City for allowing us a place at their stores, and to Riddell National Bank for their services.

The Red Kettle campaign, although seasonal, results in the year-round distribution of funds. Salvation Army Clay County is housed in the same facility as Serving on the Streets at 100 N. Forest Avenue.

Sincerely,

Cheryl Myers
