Letter to the Editor

Remembering locations of store

Sunday, July 1, 2012

To the Editor:

A few months back, I wrote a letter to the editor about past Kroger locations.

I said the only Kroger locations I knew of were where the Goodwill is now and where Page's is now, also known as Red and White.

Well, a nice lady called me after reading the letter and informed me about some Kroger locations. One was on East National where Reese's Supermarket was close to where Gooseneck is now. The other was where the former A&P Store was, now known as Lynn's Pharmacy. And one more known as Moore's Store, according to her.

This was all before Western Auto and Goodwill.

The last two locations were Page's and where it's at now.

Now, back to politics.

There's no doubt in my mind that the present mayor is a good man. However, a good man doesn't always make a good mayor.

There's not much changes in anything.

For instance, we have the same old people running the board of public works and safety, the same people running the park board, who have been there way too long, and the same old city planning administrator.

No changes. Just the same faces.

Now, the street department workers, the waterworks, and the disposal plant workers deserve the real credit because they are the hard workers and they do a great job.

If the present mayor decides to run again in 2015 and wins, then it's going to be four more years of the same old, same old.

If the next mayor who really wants changes and actually makes changes, then you'll see changes.

But if he thinks like the present mayor, then changes will never come.

Whether you're a Democrat, Republican, or Independent, you can promise anything, but it doesn't mean you can deliver it.
