Township Trustee thanks community

Sunday, August 19, 2012

To the Editor:

The Brazil Township Trustee's office would like to express our heartfelt thanks to the generous donors who have recently supported our Township Fan Giveaway program.

This Township program provides free box fans to those residents without air conditioning, or who have small children or those with breathing problems in their households.

In this second year of our program, our office has distributed free box fans to more than 60 Brazil households.

The kind and thoughtful donors who have contributed fans to be given away include Warren Whittington, Kathy Stemm, Lois Stuckey, Becky Aaron, Hazel McDermott, Mike and Pam Bassett, Elmer Lotter and several other anonymous donors.

Their generosity during the extreme heat wave of this summer may have helped to save the lives of their neighbors.

I also appreciate The Brazil Times, in print and online, which has supported this office and the people of Brazil City and Township by promoting this community program.

We are still accepting fans for the program, and we will continue to distribute them to those Brazil Township residents who need them.

We also have a Community Assistance List, available free to anyone who comes into our office at 37 W. Kruzan St., Brazil, listing many Clay County and state organizations which can provide other assistance needed.

During the first six months of 2012, the Brazil Township Trustee office has already provided assistance of food, rent, housing, electric and gas utilities, water, clothing, medical assistance, medicine and referrals to 507 Brazil households and families.

The Township partners with other outstanding local organizations such as Benevolence Ministries, Serving On The Streets, Food Pantry, First Methodist Church Soup Kitchen, Goodwill, St. Vincent Clay Hospital and many others to provide needed assistance to area residents.

I look forward to continuing to work with these tremendous organizations and the people of Brazil Township.

All my thanks,

T.J. Sneddon,

Brazil Township Trustee
