Emergency Food Pantry update

To the Editor:

The Clay County Emergency Food Pantry met Friday for a delicious pitch-in dinner and quarterly report of the operation of the pantry.

Fifteen members of the board were present for the meeting.

Financial reports were given, showing the generous donations of the community for this ministry were sufficient to purchase the necessary food items for distribution during the past year.

Director Ruth Haas reported that for the year, a total of 3,757 family units were served with a total of 11,850 individuals, with bags and boxes of items in the amount of 66,300 pounds of food items and other household supplies.

It has only been possible because of the generosity of the businesses, churches, civic organizations and individuals who have provided the supplies that were distributed.

The volunteers report a very successful Christmas Store with many items for the children and the home being given.

We believe the service we provide for the Clay County community is very vital and desire to encourage the continued support of the ministry.

We continue to solicit volunteer help, male or female, so that in the year before us will be able to assist families in need.

The Clay County Food Pantry is a non-profit organization and we will be pleased to give receipts for goods presented.
