HAROLD RICHARD MEGENHARDT I

Harold Richard Megenhardt I, 85 of Clinton, formerly of Center Point passed away November 22, 2005, at Meadows Manor East. He was born February 11, 1920, in Staunton the son of Renos Megenhardt and Erma Ethel Wells Megenhardt. As a young child the family moved to the Center Point area. He graduated from Ashboro High School, Class of 1938. In 1940 he married Frieda Lucille Rollings Megenhardt. He served his country in the U.S. Marines Corp. After military service he worked on the family farm and in local coal mines. He and Frieda moved to Muncie where he began working in a dairy. They moved back to the Center Point farm in the early 1950s and he worked for Model Dairy. He moved to Terre Haute in 1959 and he was a milk delivery man for 25 years. In 1970 he started the Megenhardt Sale Barn located on S.R. 46 in Terre Haute. He owned and operated the business until 1995 after his wife, Frieda, passed away. He enjoyed his years as auctioneer and he was known to many in the Wabash Valley as "Colonel Dick" the auctioneer. His other important role in his life-time was that of "Grandpa."
