Ruthann Jeffries accepts the Centennial Award for Professional Service from Rotary Assistant District Gov. Jerry Peacock Wednesday. A surprised Jeffries was honored for her many years of community service through Clay Community Schools and on the Brazil Park Board. Through tears she said, "I thought I was here to accept a check for the park!" The Brazil Rotary Club will present a check at a future meeting. About 10 awards are given by District 6580 to individuals nominated by about 30 clubs, Past President Sam Glover said. Members of Jeffries' family were also present for the luncheon at Brazil Family Restaurant. Also pictured are Glover and Lyman Lints (seated), who spoke at the meeting on behalf of the Bowling Green Old Settlers' Picnic.
