Very grateful for the grant

To the Editor:

Recently, the Clay County Community Foundation, an affiliate of the Wabash Valley Community Foundation, awarded a grant to the Ronald McDonald House of Indiana to provide lodging and hospitality services to Clay County families who need the house so that they can be close to their children who are being hospitalized at Riley Hospital for Children in another area hospital.

On behalf of the Board of Directors, volunteers, staff and families served by the house, I am pleased to acknowledge this very generous grant from the foundation.

Since the founding of the house in 1982, more than 20,000 families have come to the house so that they can be close to their critically ill or injured child.

Each year, the house served about 1,400 families from across the globe, mostly in Indiana.

In 2007, the house provided a home-away-from-home to nine Clay County families who stayed a combined total of 157 nights (or about two-and-a-half weeks per family).

The house raises about 85 percent of its operating budget from private contributions, including grants.

Again, from all of us at the Ronald McDonald House of Indiana, thank you to the Clay County Community Foundation and to the people of Clay County for your generous support.

Sincerely,

Micki Siner,

President, Board of Directors.
