Reality Store was a big success

To the Editor:

As a member of the community, I would like to commend North Clay Middle School, the Clay Business Women's Club and Terre Haute Savings Bank for an outstanding school-community project at the 17th annual Reality Store, that took place for all eighth-graders in the county.

The Clay Business Women are wonderfully supported by the following individuals and/or businesses: Dave Evans and crew of Walt Decorators for our booths; Mike Fowler of Clay City for hauling our tables and wheels; House of Hope for their volunteers to help us set up and tear down; Our set-up crew of Evan Deal, Mike Fowler, John and Shirley Whittington, Mike and Charlene Petersen; Financial Supporter: Terre Haute Savings Bank; North Clay Principal Jeff Allen, and counselors Greg Burns and Jan Choate; North Clay Cafeteria Staff for refreshments (who really spoil us each year); and the North Clay eighth-grade teachers, who graciously work this project in around their busy teaching and testing schedules.

We cannot begin to thank our 60 professionals (both currently employed and retired) that work with the children in the booths.

The students always seem to enjoy themselves as much as the volunteers do each year. They are learning to juggle a months' salary, make wise decisions and how to write checks.

Over the many years, students remark that they finally realize how hard their parents work to provide for their families.

Finally, I thank each student for their wonderful attention and cooperative attitudes. We were very proud to be able to provide their hands-on experience once again.

Reality Store Director,
