Enjoyable time at the park

To the Editor:

Sehr Gut Dinner and Concert (German for very good).

My husband and I attended the German Dinner at Forest Park, which was followed by the Brazil Concert Band playing German waltzes and songs (Aug. 1, 2010).

What a perfect way to end a weekend.

The food was absolutely delicious, especially the German Potato Salad, which was so good it would've made my great-grandmother Brillhardt envious.

The weather was balmy and mild with the slightest of breeze.

The music was fantastic and the company was great.

The crowd consisted of a wonderful mix of young families and the esteemed elders of our community.

Overall, the concert was well attended and appreciated.

It reminded me again of why my husband and I moved to Brazil 12 years ago -- the sense of community that we lacked in the Washington, D.C., area.

Often, the small things remind me of how great this community is -- the ice cream truck, kids playing in the park, the public swimming pool, the YMCA, the neighborhood schools, our own concert band, our own community theater, fireworks on Independence Day, the Christmas Parade, the Loyalty Day Parade, the kind people who live here, the proud past this town has and the many, many great years we have ahead of us.

If you haven't had a chance to listen to the Brazil Concert Band, do so before the end of the summer season.

It is a "sehr gut" summer treat.

Amy Burke Adams,

Brazil
