Fishing Fun Day was a success

Sunday, September 26, 2010

To the Editor:

The Brazil City Parks and Recreation Board would like to thank all individuals, businesses and organizations who helped with the sixth Fishing Fun Day at Craig Park Sept. 18.

Many children and their families spent the morning together fishing and enjoying this special time with one another. The weather was perfect and the fish were biting. Besides fishing, everyone could enjoy free hot dogs, drinks and popcorn. Each child 12-under received a prize.

Brazil is fortunate to have such beautiful parks. And Brazil is fortunate to have so many giving people to help with projects like this.

Thanks to Brazil Mayor Ann Bradshaw, John and Allen, Brazil Clerk-Treasurer Karen McQueen and Troy and Bob and Kay Bigley, Clay County Prosecutor Lee Reberger, Larry and Debbie Pierce, Clay County Sheriff's Department, Brazil City Fire Department, and Clay County Reserve Officers, Brazil City Police Department, Frank Swearingen Lawn Service, Avenue Broadband, Walmart and Pam, Pepsi Co. and Bill Osborn, Fifth Third Bank and Justin Campbell, Kroger, The Brazil Times, The Popcorn Festival of Clay County, Bill Houck, John Day, Ed Holt, Ray Staub, Noel and Donna Short and Steve and Linda Messmer.

A special thank you to L.T. Clark for sharing his expertise. Thanks to L.T. also for providing some fishing equipment, including rods and reels and bait.

Ruthann Jeffries,

President, Brazil City Parks and Recreation Board
