Letter to the Editor

All of the support was special

To the Editor:

Our family would like to thank all of the firemen and neighbors that helped us on Tuesday evening, Sept. 21, 2010.

Our neighbors across the street, who beat on our door to tell us, while they called 911.

The neighbors beside us and across the ally, we learned later, ran out to see if our precious dog was in the kennel to let him out, and to call 911. Thank you.

When the firemen told us that the house was getting ready to catch fire and getting out what we could, neighbors from out of nowhere started to clear out everything in that part of the house within five minutes. Neighbors I didn't even know. Thank you.

There was a lady and her daughter who saw that I was trying to keep my dog safe and out of the house, came up and said, "Here, let us take him so you can do what you need to do and not worry."

Zeke is a 100-pound Shepherd and this small, petite lady took him without question. We thank you.

Thanks to the firemen who saved our house. Starting to run out of water, they concentrated on the house and kept the fire from reaching out its greedy fingers to take something else from us.

We are so very grateful for this help and support.

Neighbors and friends telling us to come and stay, take a shower, eat something, whatever we needed.

We are indebted to you.

Thank you.

Cindy Evans,
