The repairs have taken this long?

To the Editor:

Close the road, State Road 42, Poland Bridge, for more than 12 weeks to make a local one or two-day repair?

Oct. 12- Jan. 12, three months, six weeks to access the damage to the bridge. Farmers, merchants and people suffer needlessly.

Does this look like major damage to you? This is more of a worse decision than the Vinegar Hill Indiana State Transportation Department decision to replace the MacIntyre Bridge, and the first of 17, 90-degree curves from Vinegar Hill to State Road 231.

The next 15 miles, nothing but curves. At least, was left open for six months for one lane of traffic. The bridge needed sand blasted and painted, would have been there another 50 years instead.

Through corrupt politics and poor decision-making, chose to spend $1 million to $500,000 to replace a bridge and a curve that never needed it in the first place.

Here again it's the same thing happening again. For eight weeks, the bridge is closed to Cataract State Park, Poland town, Cloverdale and SR 231.
