Area organization tries for Pepsi grant

Sunday, January 23, 2011

To the Editor:

One child. One voice. One vote.

Wabash Valley residents can "refresh" the community.

CASA Kids is hoping valley residents will help them provide powerful voices for powerless children by voting for their idea for a Pepsi "Refresh Everything" grant to reach the top 10.

CASA Kids is seeking the funds to assist the Vigo County Court Appointed Special Advocates with operational and direct service expenses. Please help us by voting daily through midnight, Jan. 31, 2011.

Each month, Pepsi awards grant money for ideas that receive the most votes online and/or via text messaging from cellular phones. We are very lucky this month to have four area organizations in the running for a grant.

Vigo County CASA Kids, Rio Grande Elementary PTO, Habitat for Humanity of Clay County, and the Humane Society of Putnam County, need the support and daily votes from everyone in the community.

Voting can be done through your Facebook account, texting or visiting www.refresheverything.com, and search for ideas near you. CASA Kids is in the $50,000 category, Rio Grande PTO and Habitat for Humanity are competing for a $25,000 grant, and the Humane Society is in the running for a $250,000 grant.

Each of these organizations gives to our community every day and now it is time for us to give back. Your vote will provide necessary funds for improvements and continued service to the community.

Go to www.refresheverything.com for more information about voting and texting.
