Tired of fast food service

Sunday, May 15, 2011

To the Editor:

I am so sick of the fast food restaurants around here.

Every time I go through a drive-thru window, I'm greeted by an annoyed teenager.

I am so sorry that I am inconveniencing you by paying for your paycheck. Please forgive me.

Some nights, when I have to work later, I will go through a drive-thru. (Maybe more often than I should).

I remember when I worked for a fast food place when I was a teenager, not that long ago and I was always smiling and pleasant.

I know I would have lost my job if I weren't.

I hardly hear a thank you, have a nice day, or sometimes, they don't say anything at all.

They just hand me my order, which is only correct half the time, and shut the window.

What is that about?

I mean, really, if you don't want to work, quit.

There are plenty of people in Brazil who would love to have a job.

So, to the lovely service I get every time I go through a drive-thru, I say thank you and have a nice day.

Amber Nelson,

Brazil
