Refinancing of jail bonds: I want to take this opportunity to recognize everyone involved in the process of refinancing the bonds for the Clay County Justice Center.

On Thursday, Feb. 8, the following people, including myself, spent nearly four hours hearing presentations by four different financial firms: Clay County Auditor Mary Jo Alumbaugh, Clay County Commissioner Charlie Brown, Commissioner's Attorney Eric Somheil, Clay County Council members Rita Rothrock and Toni Carter and Mr. Robert Hostetler, a member of the holding corp., for the jail project.

Then, on Friday afternoon of last week, this same group of people and Mr. Jeff Fritz, who is also a member of the holding corp., met again to choose a firm who along with Umbaugh and Associates, out of Indianapolis, will actually handle the refinancing and sale of the bonds.

Due to the efforts of this group of dedicated servants of our community, the taxpayers will save several million dollars over the next 12-14 years.

I personally want to thank all these people for their time and effort in this very important matter.
