Memory lane trip was joyful

To the Editor:

I wanted to thank and compliment the following people at St. Vincent Clay Hospital for the excellent service and kindness they gave my wife Alice recently for some tests they administered to her as an outpatient.

I wanted to thank Shirley, Robbin, Rebecca, Kim, Bev, Jody, Dr. Stephens, Dr. Houston and the caregivers.

Also, Sandy Haggart, RN Director of Nursing, Jamie Webster, RN, Nurse Manager, and Jerry Laue, Administrator.

And last, but not least, thanks to my daughter Laurie Wilkinson for taking the time on her day off from work at Rose-Hulman to drive her mom to St. Vincent and staying for her test and driving her back home after the tests were done.

On other subjects, I'd like to compliment the man who once wrote to The Times on the history of Kroger stores.

I can remember Kroger being where the Goodwill is now and where it used to be where Page's IGA is now, but I can't remember it being on East National, or Lynn's Pharmacy, or Moore's Store.

Sure, it's facing East National now, but this was before any plaza.

I'm sure the man is right, but I just can't remember it.

On one more subject -- in politics, you got people running for some sort of office, they promise us one thing or another, but deliver nothing.

For example, they tell you they want to make changes.

The only change I have seen in the present City Administration is a new Police Chief.

You still got the same old people on the Board of Public Works and Safety, the same old people on the Park Board, and the same old City Administrator. There's no change, except one.

Although I like talking about the past, there is also a time to talk about the present.

I will talk about the past again, but from time to time, I will talk about the present, whether it's politics or something else.
