Photo was not necessary

To the Editor:

Our small community has lost so much in the past few weeks.

I hope I do not offend any of the families who have lost a loved one, whether it be overseas or in our hometown.

While it is the job of the newspaper and television to report events to us, I do not believe it is necessary to post or provide pictures of the vehicles when there has been a fatal accident.

It is not an effective scare tactic for our teens, and causes great heartache for these families.

I fully believe that if the families of these accidents were asked about these pictures being printed, they would have said no.

I am referring specifically to the accident that claimed Troy's life and forever changed the lives of many others.

Imagine how his family felt when they picked up the paper and saw what remained of his car.

Isn't it bad enough they have to live daily without him?

Some may say, "Well, he was driving too fast."

Yet, I would like to meet the one person who didn't drive that way when they got their first car.

My heart goes out to all the families, and while no one can heal their pain, the newspapers and television can help by not showing these scenes.
