Way to go, Center Point! You are setting a great example
I was delighted to hear the news from Kristy Jerrell, president of Jerrell Consulting and Grant Administration Services, that the Town of Center Point is thinking big and is going for a large grant to improve the appearance of buildings in the business district.
Everywhere I go I hear people crying, "Our small towns are drying up. Everyone is moving out. Our small towns are disappearing."
Obviously the people in the center of our county don't think so.
When Jack Rentschler, who grew up in Center Point, donated $5,000 because he wanted to see the local hardware store building improved, the town's leaders got together and met with Jerrell and asked, "Can we do something like Brazil and get a grant to improve our downtown buildings?"
Jerrell has done an outstanding job for the City of Brazil, in my opinion. She has helped the obtain thousands of dollars in grants, as we have reported in The Brazil Times.
It's not an easy task but as she said, "It makes me feel like I am doing something important."
Indeed you, are, Kristy, indeed you are.
So are the people of Center Point. I'm sure many other towns will be watching to see what you can do to not only maintain your town but improve it. Great job!
