December update
In 2016, we shared the story that started with "I'm Sorry." As we started the School Program, grew the Summer Program and dreamed of Christmas Delivery, every donation given to us was given with the words, "I'm Sorry." "I know it isn't enough." Yet we we put it all together we kept having enough. Every time! We just did it together again!
Of course we had the Duke Energy donation of $15,000 for Christmas Delivery again this year. They made Christmas Delivery a reality again this year for the third year, but it wasn't enough. Guess what happened next?
So here is what happened in December thanks to our community working together. We had an amazing group of volunteers who dreamed to have a fundraiser for Christmas in December and our community joined them! The raised over $7,200 as the community embraced and donated to the event.
We had small churches taking up free will offerings and donating to the Program in December! Our smallest churches gave the most again.
Re-Construction Services stepped up again! They support the kids all year long, but especially at Christmas.
We hesitate to name all who made this possible, but you know who you are! Many businesses had fundraisers, many families gave from $10 to $500 and we know it was a struggle for many of them. We put it all together and guess what happened again?
So, as we end 2018, we are blessed again. We put it all together and Christmas 2018 is paid for and we have a bit left over for 2019 for the School Program and the Summer Program. Actually we are in good shape right now, but don't worry. The Summer Program is is our most expensive part of the year and the funds will be needed! Christmas is the giving season, but we aren't worried about Summer. You have taught us to trust our community and we do!
We were told by many that this Program would not and could not be sustained past the first year. Yet here we are still doing it. Everyone giving what they can, when they can and when we put it all together, we keep feeding the kids. Thank you! #webelieve
