To our volunteers: We love you! If you have not been contacted to help this Sunday, 3/29/20, to help pack food or deliver, please do not show up to help. We are following guidelines and limiting the numbers of our volunteers. There will be 10 people loading and drivers will stay in their vehicle and have the food loaded. Stay home if you have not heard from us to be signed up to help. What a wonderful problem we have right now. We have more people wanting to help than we are allowed to have together! We are limiting the number of volunteers and contact with others. Our delivery volunteers will knock, set the food down and leave.
We wish this delivery was not necessary, but it is. We have signed up an additional 141 children (via FB) since Monday morning. Families are struggling to provide food for their kids. We are also still hearing from the families who do not have transportation to pick up food at the schools next week. We anticipate the numbers to grow as word gets out about the help is available. We have not turned a child down yet and pray we never will.
To the families we are delivering to: Deliveries will be made on Sunday afternoon, 3/29/20, sometime after 2:30 pm. Delivery will be slow due to the limited number of volunteers who are doing so much work to make this happen. Volunteers will knock on your door, set the food down and leave. We ask you do not have contact with the delivery volunteers.
Our plans are to do this every Sunday unless we are prohibited from doing so, as long as we get the food in each week and have the funding to purchase food.
We make this up as we go along and our community helps us figure it out. We have always said that and it is true, but this is one of our more difficult challenges. For the volunteers who are helping Sunday, thank you for your willingness to do the work of 10 people. We wish we could help, but we cannot. Thank you all.
