Not a story we like to share
We love sharing the stories about what our community is doing together. We love sharing the stories about how our donors and volunteers work together to see the kids have food for the summer and weekends during the school year. We love sharing stories about our families, our volunteers, and how everyone has worked together in Crazy time 2020.
What we do not love sharing is the message about the need for monetary donations. Since school stopped in March 2020, we have spent $70,682.52. Thanks to everyone, we had the money to purchase food to deliver food to the kids. We just just also ordered $6,226 worth of food to provide food for the kids on the weekends, for a month, in Clay County for the School year (whatever that will look like).
We also lost two fundraiser this year due to Covid. The Festival of Trees and the Christmas Fundraiser held by our friends. This is a loss of around $15,000.
We are moving ahead and ordering food. We still have some funds left, but part of those funds are designated for Christmas Delivery (whatever that may look like) and were donated by Duke Energy & Vectren/CenterPoint Energy. We aren’t worried. We are counting on our community to make this happen as we always do each year. Everyone doing and giving as they can always is just enough. #WeBelieve
