The First United Methodist and First Presbyterian youth groups went head to head in an Eddie's hamburger eating contest. Each team had an equal number of contestants. The FUMC group won by eating 75 hamburgers in 6 minutes 39 seconds, beating the Presbyterians by two and a half burgers. Contrary to popular belief, Athens Ambulance is no closer to leaving Brazil than it was months ago, according to County Commissioner Daryl Andrews. Rumors have spread that the County Commissioners are very close to signing a contract with Transcare Ambulance. Morning crash injures one

A wreck resulted in injury early this morning when Magno S. Deandrade, of Connecticut, attempted to make a U-turn on S.R. 59 in his Isuzu Trooper, pulling out in front of Doyle Lee Dietz, of Brazil. Deandrade's vehicle sustained body damage in the collision, while Dietz's car took damage to the front end. ...

The 13th annual Indiana State University Band-O-Rama concert will be at 1 p.m. Sunday in Tilson Auditorium.
