Reader finds event unimpressive

To the Editor: I was very unimpressed with the carnival this year. I also heard the same comments while there Sunday night. There were so few rides and so few vendors. In fact, there weren't many people there at all. I know money is tighter than years before, but the counties around us have so much more than we do, including restaurants, stores, nice theaters, skate park, and with such little extra things here that Brazil offers, like fairs, carnivals and shows, should be better...

Bright lights flashing intermittently through the branches as the Ferris wheel makes another round. The sounds of children shrieking with laughter. The strange, yet familiar odorous mix of hot grease, powdered sugar, and barbecue.
