Brazil Rotary Club enjoyed a spirit-lifting lunch meeting on Dec. 28 hosted by club member John Lee. The day was also highlighted by President Frank Phillips performing the induction of a new Rotarian Gayle Wiley-Camonte. For the rest of the program, John invited Buz Burgess to lead club members and guests in the singing of seasonal favorites with guitar accompaniment by Bob Pell. Then Amos Thomas shared his insights about the song "Love on a Greyhound Bus" as a personal anecdote to close the meeting.

Loan complications shouldn't delay waterworks project in Clay City

A loan taken out in 2000 by Clay City is making things more complicated for the Clay City town council but should not delay construction of the town's new water plant. Bids will be requested Jan. 16 and bids received will be opened at the Feb. 7 meeting of the council, said President Donella Baumgartner. Meanwhile, a loan to be used for the project has been complicated by an earlier loan received from the State Revolving Fund in 2000.
