Mayor proclaims Girl Scout Week in Brazil

The week of March 12 has been proclaimed Girl Scout Week in the City of brazil by Mayor Brian Wyndham. The mayor issued the proclamation Wednesday afternoon in City Hall before members and leaders of Van Buren Girl Scout Troop 2246. The proclamation says Girl Scouts of the USA is 105 years old and was founded by Juliette Gordon Low in Savannah, Georgia. City taking ownership of burned out Mechanic Street property

The City of Brazil plans to take ownership of a property where a deadly fire occurred last year. City Attorney Traci Orman said its owner has agreed to give the lot at 721 E. Mechanic St. to the city, adding the property has a clean title. “We are going to accept it and get it torn down and clean it up,” Orman said at Wednesday’s meeting of the city’s Board of Public Works and Safety. “The cost to us will be the cost of the demolition.”...
