I was out last week at a conference in Illinois and returned to my home with a new puppy! (Don’t ask.) He is a Shih Tzu (pronounced “Shid zoo,” despite how people want to pronounce it.) He is adorable and about two months old, so he’s very young. So far, there are many comparisons to owning a puppy and having a baby. I have done both … they both need to have a nap, they need comfort during the night, they need to eat/drink and go to the bathroom … but mostly, they need love...

Local Lions Club joins effort in Mexico to provide glasses to those in need

Hoggatt was recently honored for his 50 years of service to the Posey Township Volunteer Fire Department, but he’s been striving to do his best in all of his 83 years of life. Bassler to speak at Republican Club meeting

The Clay County Republicans Club will meet at 7 p.m. May 15 at the Kennedy Crossing Bingo Center on Kennedy Crossing Road. The guest speaker will be Indiana Senator Eric Bassler. First elected in 2014, Bassler is a senator representing Indiana’s 39th District, which encompasses parts of Clay, Knox and Owen counties, and the entirety of Daviess, Greene, Martin, and Sullivan counties.

Brazil Concert Band begins 159th season

The Brazil Concert Band will begin its 159th season with rehearsals at Northview High School on May 16 at 7 p.m. and again on May 23. On May 30, the BCB will move to Forest Park, with practice beginning at 7 p.m.
