For the past few years, drivers who pass the intersection of U.S. 40 and S.R. 59 on one Saturday each summer have been offered free water and soft drinks courtesy of about a dozen men wearing turbans and their families. Water utility customers’ rights protected by city resolution (Local News ~ 07/13/17)
The Brazil Board of Public Works and Safety has established a procedure to protect the rights of water customers who receive notice their water will be disconnected for non-payment. The procedure was put in place following a court case. On the back of their disconnect notice will be instructions stating that if they wish to appeal the disconnection of service they must inform the mayor’s office in writing by the 19th of the month in which they receive the notice. ... -
Church seeks city action to resolve parking issue (Local News ~ 07/13/17)
Members of First Presbyterian Church returned to the Brazil City Council meeting Wednesday night to discuss parking issues on Walnut Street in front of the Brazil Public Library. Mike Holland said on more than one occasion “an employee of the library” stopped people who were parking their cars in front of the library drop box and told them they could not park there.
