Back to school reminder: Sleep is essential for good health

Insufficient sleep is associated with a number of chronic conditions such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, hormonal imbalance, obesity and depression. Sleep is especially important to a child’s growth and overall health. Sleep promotes alertness, memory and performance. Children who get enough sleep are more likely to function better and are less prone to behavioral problems and moodiness.

Indiana governor rolls multi-million dollar jobs initiative during stop at Great Dane

Clay County isn’t the only place where factory jobs go begging. It is a statewide situation and on Monday morning Brazil became the first stop on a tour to roll out a more than $20 million initiative to fund two programs designed to help fill those jobs. Gov. Eric Holcomb held a news conference at Great Dane’s Brazil plant to announce the initiative called “Next Level Jobs.”

State schools’ chief to speak at local GOP meeting

Indiana’s Superintendent of Public Instruction will be the guest speaker when the Clay County Republican Club meets Monday. Dr. Jennifer McCormick, who was elected in 2016, will discuss her vision for Indiana’s public school education when the club meets at 7 p.m. at the Kennedy Crossing Bingo Center. The public is invited to attend.
