Honor Roll memorial torn down

The Clay County Honor Roll Veterans Memorial building which was damaged April 4, 2017 when a vehicle crashed into it, has been torn down. A crew demolished the building Monday evening. The names will be placed in a new memorial and a flag pole will be erected in the center where the blue building formerly stood. The pole will be surrounded by shrubs or flowers.

Voters turn out for 2018 Primary Election

Perhaps the biggest surprise to come out of Tuesday’s Primary Election in Clay County was the larger than expected voter turnout. Although the combined early voting and absentee ballots total was higher in 2014, when voting centers were implemented in Clay County, Tuesday's ballot totals were significant because there were fewer races than in 2014, said Mary Brown, who supervised previous Clay County elections and is the current Election Board Chair.
