Dwight E. "Butch" Routson

Dwight E. "Butch" Routson, 66, Brazil, died at 5:40 a.m. Wed., Oct. 19, at his home following a battle with lung cancer that began in March this year.

Born in Mt. Cory, Ohio, on Jan. 18, 1939, his parents were Harold Routson and Georgia E. Stevens Routson.

On July 30, 1956, he enlisted in the U.S. Army for three years and served over two years with the 237th Engineer Battalion on foreign duty.

For much of his active life he was an operating engineer for the Miller Pipeline Company of Indianapolis, and had been a Brazil resident since 1968.

He was a member of the Terre Haute Local No. 841, International Union of Operating Engineers.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Imojean Fox.

He is survived by his wife, Linda L. Thomas Routson, whom he married Oct. 17, 1968; one son, Michael E. Woodall, Brazil; a special niece who he raised and whom he considered a daughter, Kimberly Glassburn and husband Shane, Brazil; four grandchildren, Kayla, Kelsey, Jase Thomas, and Kassidy Glassburn, all of Brazil; one sister, Marjorie Eilene St. James, of Blackbird, Va.; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday in Lawson-Miller Chapel, 1702 E. National Ave. Rev. Ernest Rush will officiate and burial will be in Calcutta Cemetery with graveside military services conducted by the local V.F.W. and American Legion posts. visitation is from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday.
