My favorite part of summetime is when I go to visit my grandma, which I have done all my life. We are over 500 miles away from each other and I have always been so close to her and enjoy her company so much. She lives in Crawfordsville and I'm in West Virginia. This year I went to Indiana before I had planned, because my uncle died. When I came back home, I brought her with me. She visited with Mom, which is her daughter, for about a month. Then, as I had planned, off I went, back to Indiana, to Grandma's. This time was different though, Grandma was with me this trip. The worse thing about staying so long, was leaving. My grandma is 91 and it was, as it always has been, so hard to leave her. She still lives alone and is in good health. It's just so hard to say good-bye, so I didn't. I told her I would see her again, soon. I've always been told that I'm alot like my grandma. I just pray, when I'm her age, I will continue to be, just like Grandma.

My favorite part of summertime is just about everything.
The warm summer breezes and the sweet summer rain that makes the crops grow. The smell of new mown grass and the scent of roses blooming at sunrise.
I love to hear the Rooster grow in early dawn
His song tells me this is another glorious day that God has given me to live and enjoy.
A day to make a friend smile or do something for another that is unable to do for their self.
I love the sound of crickets and the frogs down at the pond in the evening.Summertime is my favorite season because everything is green and fresh, a time to kick off my shoes and go barefoot.Summertime is the best time for picnics and county fairs ,gathering of family and friends.
Summertime is like Christmas in July only better because these gifts are free.

I know this sounds silly, but ONE of my favorite parts of summertime is the smell of newly mown hay. I grew up on a farm and my siblings and I helped my dad put up hay in the summer. Even though it was a hot job, I will never forget riding on top of the hay-filled wagon all the way home. Fun times!

Just A Country Girl
Just a country girl I am
No pretense no sham
Corn bread, beans and fried potatoes
And in the summer give me
Fried green tomatoes
Sundays are for the Lord
And Monday thru Friday
We work hard
Saturdays are for going to town
To shop and look around
Might even find a new gingham gown
Yep I'm country alright
I love to hear those guitars and fiddles play
And when friends stop by
They like to sit awhile , gossip and crochet
Nothing like a country girl to make you feel right at home
Country girl's love their men folk just right
So he'll never want to roam
We let them think they're boss
But we know who owns the hoss
We keep our young'uns corn fed and hand spanked
Whenever they are ornery mean or downright cross
I've heard it said ..we're a dying breed
But let me tell ya folk's
They're barkin' up the wrong tree
Cause I'm still here
And I'm
Just a country girl

Planting and working the garden. Nothing tastes better than food you've grown with your own hands.

Riding on the back of my husbands Harley. The sunshine and the smell of fresh cut grass. I also love to watch the little ones play in the pool.
