Reminiscing about past Christmases

To the Editor:

I was sitting in my chair thinking about Christmas time when I was a kid and what came to mind was the Walnut Theater.

I was remembering the Santa and a movie they used to do for free. It was always so much fun seeing Santa coming on the back of a fire engine. I remember the anticipation of that fire truck coming around the corner and seeing a movie for the first time on the big screen.

That line seemed miles long and I thought I would never get inside that theater.

I remember asking to go through the circle on (State Road) 59 every time we came into town so I could see all the houses that were decorated so beautifully. That last house with the music and the Santa that waved to all the cars where everyone stopped to roll down the window for just a few minutes, I don't know what that little division was called but it was the highlight of my day to go through it.

We used to go for a drive to see the lights back then and that little circle of houses was always the last stop.

I love the Christmas parade that we have now, and Christmas In The Park is beautiful, but I will never forget how magical this time of year was for me when I was small.
